What to Do When Life Derails Your Semester
“The best laid schemes of mice and men oft go awry.” -Robert Burns
Sometimes no matter how much you plan, no matter how carefully you consider your next steps, no matter how organized and responsible you are—life does it thing and knocks you off track.
Maybe you get sick, your car breaks down, you get in a fight with your partner, your mother gets a serious medical diagnosis, you break your foot, your city is hit by a natural disaster…you get the idea. Life throws curve balls even to people who are attending college.
Obstacles, challenges, and setbacks can strike at any time, even the day of a big exam.
The difference between those who succeed during college and those who struggle is NOT the absence of adversity, but rather how adversity is handled when it shows up.
In this week’s episode, I’ll walk you through a few tips and tricks for navigating life’s hiccups even when you have five classes worth of assignments staring you in the face.
I’m talking about:
How to communicate what’s going on to your professors.
How to catch up on your commitments and assignments.
When to cut your losses and call it quits.
Now I want to hear from you:
How you even had your semester derailed by life? How did you recover? I’d love to hear your strategies in the comments below, or DM me over on Instagram @collegehoodadvice or tag me @collegehoodadvice.
