Despite graduating at the top of my high school class, I was totally lost, unmotivated, and confused when I started college. After struggling to figure out my own life, I sorta fell into helping first-year college students with their transition to the college experience, and I haven’t looked back since. Through my own life and experience supporting thousands of young people through college and the transition to professional life, I learned that the key to a successful and fulfilling life isn’t natural talent or exceptional intelligence, but an alignment between who you are and what you do.
The difference between highly successful people and the rest of us is a little luck and A LOT of belief that with hard work they are can do anything. You have as much of a chance to create a fulfilling, meaningful, amazing life as Beyoncé does. You just need to get crystal clear on what you want and then go for it. Yes, it won’t necessarily turn out how you thought. And yes you will encounter obstacles, setbacks, and failures along the way, but it will be closer to amazing then if you settle for okay.
Your real life is happening right now. I know this seems REAL obvious, but many of us live in the past or in the future. We put off doing the stuff we want until some future time when all the stars align. But the truth is the stars will never align unless you start taking baby steps toward the future you want right now.
